Seems like Karan Johar’s new year resolution is to bury all the hatchets and move on in his life in 2018. It looks like the director-producer is all set to forget and forgive what all happened in the last year which may have soured his friendships with the industry insiders. We all know that he has had major conflicts with Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut for different reasons. While Devgn’s Shivaay releasing on the same date as Johar’s Aey Dil Hai Mushkil didn’t go down well with him, his nepotism controversy post Ranaut’s appearance on KJo’s talk show was the news-maker of the year.
A few days ago, Karan surprisingly welcomed Kangana on his upcoming show India’s Next Superstars and happily agreed to all the possibilities of her coming on the show for her movie’s promotions. Well, it was indeed a sweet gesture! Moving on, he also complimented Devgn for being there in the industry since three decades along with maintaining his stardom. He said, “They are just going on and on… and more respect to them. It is difficult to stay relevant. I will be completing 20 years in the industry in 2019. It is not easy (to stay here). Getting success is not that difficult if you do your job well, but maintaining it is tough.”
Talking about the three Khans, Devgn and Akki, he continued, “I think the Khans have had a legacy of great cinema and longevity. All of them have been around for three decades, and they have build an equity of audience who only watched films. It is a big challenge for the younger actors to live up to the audience base that has been created by these three megastars. Hats off to Shah Rukh, Aamir, Salman, Akshay and Ajay Devgn for being relevant even after working for three decades.”
Talking about the upcoming talent show, he said, “There are a lot of reality shows either about singing or dancing or talent-based, but here we are looking for talent in the acting department. There is an academy where these 20 contestants will stay together. On weekdays, the contestants will be trained, and on the weekends, there will be a celebrity guest along with us who will give the participants a challenge.”
“Our combination is great as we come from different brands of cinema. But the one thing common between us is the love and passion for our work and the film industry,” said KJo when asked about his co-judge Rohit Shetty who will join him in the panel. Well, it seems like Kjo is definitely one cool ice-breaker!
