The year of 2017 might have been a very subdued year for the movies as well as the box office, but the year-end saw a dhamaal with the release of Ali Abbas Zafar directorial Tiger Zinda Hai, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
It is no surprise that Tiger Zinda Hai brought an immense amount of box office collection after-all it is a Salman Khan starrer, with the actor in his most action-packed and popular role. Not to forget the fact that Katrina Kaif as the leading lady made it quite the highlight of the year. But the most happening news is that The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer has now entered the Rs 300-crore club.
According to the figures by Box Office India, the film entered the Rs 200-crore club in the first week itself, then earning close to Rs 85 crores in the second week, the film entered the elite club with Rs 17.75 crores in the third weekend. Well, hat’s off to this one!
Although even with the daunting amount of Rs 309.04 crores, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ is still very far behind ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, whose Hindi version on a whole had earned more than Rs 500 crores. But Salman Khan is now dominating the elite club with a three out of five, TZH, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, while Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ and ‘PK’ are the other two films.
While Salman Khan is dominating the scene as an actor, Ali Abbas Zafar is soon going to be the most sought-after director in Bollywood after his next collaborative release on Eid, 2019. As with two films Sultan and TZH already in the club, it will be a definite hatrick for the director.
However, the next target for ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ will be to cross ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ which had grossed close to Rs 320 crores.
