It seems that winter will be quite late for the fans of the most popular fantasy series Game of Thrones. As the avid fans and viewers of the series await its final installment, here comes a disheartening news from HBO.
HBO has announced that the final season of the fantasy series won’t premiere until 2019. It is definitely not going to be anytime soon, as we had all expected the release dates to be in 2018. This delay in the release of the final installment of the fantasy series can be suspected to be a move to give Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin a time lapse to release his long-awaited novel The Winds of Winter from his Fire and Blood series.
Also, the news release included the credits for the final installment of the series, season 8 of the Game of Thrones shall include: series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, David Nutter, and Miguel Sapochnik. Benioff and Weiss will also write the new season along with Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill. Benioff and Weiss executive produce along with Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger, and Bernadette Caulfield. Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin as co-executive producers.
It is already quite known that even though season 7 had been released during the summer of 2017, it is only during the springtime that GoT’s previous season was running. Although now, it is very unclear as to when the final season shall be premiered in 2019. Rumors have it that it can be the start of the next year as early as possible.
Actress Sophie Turner had also revealed that the production for season 8 has already started with from October in 2017. With season 8 being only that of six episodes, it will definitely keep all the viewers gripping the edge of their seat, all the time. It is definitely going to be a very, very long wait until next year for winter to come. Hopefully Martin will release his next book to hold Game of Thrones fans over.
While some have accepted this disheartening statement given out by HBO, some fans took to Twitter and other social media platforms to vent their disappointment over the news of getting a delayed release date in next year altogether. After all, we all were anticipating the final installment, not to forget that several theories and leaks of the story for the final season has already been uploaded and circulated throughout the net space.
