Selena Gomez is executive producing 13 Reasons Why on Netflix and she shared a video teaser of the show.
The series is based on a novel by Jay Asher of the same name. The YA novel is about a teenage girl who commits suicide. After her death, 13 people receives 13 tapes based on how each person played a role towards her untimely death.
The clip offer a glimpse of these 13 people along with an ominous text that reads “the all killed her.” The story stresses over the impact people can have on other people and also to remember or remind people that suicide is complex and is caused by more than one external factor as well. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, research shows that mental disorder and substance abuse (or a combination of the two) have been found in 90 per cent people who died by suicide.
13 Reasons Why features Empire‘s Derek Luke, and Private Pratice‘s Kate Walsh and also executive producer by Spotlight director Tom McCarthy. It arrives on Netflix on March 31st.
