Bollywood has had its fair share of movies about hitherto unknown facets of the Indian armed forces with films like Rustom, Baby and Force 2. And now, Dharma Productions are all set to introduce another largely unknown war story that happened between India and Pakistan in 1971, through their upcoming film, The Ghazi Attack, which will also be India’s first war-at-sea film!
The trailer of the film gives a thrilling sneak peek into what promises to be an enthralling war saga. Starring Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, KK Menon and the late Om Puri, the film gives an in-depth look into the underwater battle that happened between the Pakistani submarine, PNS Ghazi and the Indian submarine, S-21, off the Vishakhapatnam coast. The Pakistani army had an intent of destroying the cult Indian navy vessel, INS Vikrant and conquering the Vishakhapatnam coast which led to the war.
Rana, KK Menon and Om Puri can be seen potraying navy officers in charge of the Indian submarine in the trailer. From writing navy codes, creating war strategies to launching torpedoes underwater, the trailer of The Ghazi Attack gives a realistic feel of a sea war film and seems to be on par with Hollywood films with a similar theme.
The film, which will release on the 17th of February 2017, is sure to bring to the surface another unknown chapter in Indian history and present an engaging story of the Indian Navy’s heroics. Let’s hope it lives upto the expectations it has created!
